Zimbabwe tax compliance calendar 2026

Plan ahead with separate dates for sending your records, filing returns and paying tax. Reviewed 9 October 2026.

Three separate dates: our client records cutoff gives us preparation time; the statutory filing deadline is when the return is due; the payment deadline is when ZIMRA must receive payment. Sending records does not complete filing or payment.

Current monthly obligations

TaxClient records cutoffReturn filingPayment
PAYEAt least five calendar days before filing, brought forward to an office working day; normally in the preceding month5th of the following month10th of the following month
Monthly withholding taxes covered by ZIMRA's monthly returns noticeAt least five calendar days before filing, brought forward to an office working day; separate from VAT records5th of the following month10th of the following month for the taxes covered by that notice
VAT, for your applicable tax period and categoryBy the 5th after the tax period, or earlier to retain five calendar days before filing and an office working day10th after the tax period15th after the tax period

Confirm the tax type and applicable period before using these dates. Transaction-specific withholding obligations may differ. We bring our records cutoff forward for weekends and public holidays; this does not imply an extension of a statutory deadline.

Your next records cycle

For October 2026 payroll and monthly withholding records, send complete records by Friday 30 October 2026, ahead of filing on 5 November and payment on 10 November. For an applicable VAT period ending 31 October, the records cutoff is 5 November, filing 10 November and payment 15 November. Arrange payment early where the due date falls on a non-working day; check any later ZIMRA notice before relying on an extension.

QPD filing and payment have separate deadlines. Update your annual estimate using current accounts and previous instalments.

Annual and entity-specific obligations

We agree an earlier preparation timetable for annual accounts and income tax returns. Confirm the deadline for your accounting year against the current ZIMRA notice. Company and association filings depend on the entity and applicable Registrar requirements. Check the expiry shown on your tax clearance certificate. Contact us for your business's current schedule.

What to send us each month

Send each set of records by its own cutoff above. Payroll and withholding records cannot wait for the general VAT records cutoff:

  • Payroll details as payroll is run, complete by the agreed payroll cutoff at least five calendar days before filing
  • Bank statements for every account, including mobile money and foreign-currency accounts
  • Sales records: invoices, till summaries and credit notes
  • Purchase records: supplier invoices with valid fiscal tax invoices where applicable
  • Expense receipts and petty cash records
  • Asset purchases or sales, loan statements and any ZIMRA letters received

The essentials only; this list is not exhaustive.
